we held our breathe

So on that morning we held our breathe
and looked each other in the eye
there was danger on the street
any corner could expose a lie

and there in the in between
the silence of what to do next
where to go and what to choose

light or shadows
a lie or the truth

we walked out in the street hand in hand and never looked back.

She Still Loves You So

Her mood can cloud over on a bright sunny day at the sound of your name
and any cousin of yours that she sees can make her smile
sometimes it can’t be understood the way she feels for you
but it is something that no one can break

if you ever feel she betrayed you
this would be a grave mistake
her whole world was wound around you
you are her Joy and brought her Love

Never never wanted to let go
Never never wanted it this way
Never never ever gave up on you
She still loves you so

and she cries at the sound of your name
and she cries to think of you alone
and she cries to think that she will never see you again
she knows it is wrong, she knows she can’t explain
life is so cruel to take you away from her home
you must carry on and be all that you are…..

she will always carry a picture of you in her soul
you’ll go wherever she goes
She loves you so….

on some balcony somewhere

on some balcony somewhere
from on high
I hope to your hear your voice

on some street somewhere
full of bustle and boom
I want to crave the touch of your lips

in some crowded room
full of the those and thems of the world
I hope to capture your lovely gaze

and throughout this world
to roam with you
to make a home with you
die old with you
and never let you go…

On Missing & Anticipating

leaving you this time in the snow of February was nearly impossible
not that I enjoyed any other separation from you
I guess I just knew when we would be together
and now fate was in control of our next encounter
and fate would decide the day you would come
and I felt like fate tore us apart like a simple sheet of paper
I missed you crazy, so painfully
days were so slow and sharp, it was hard to breath at times
but fate has been gracious and given us a date
and missing has turned into anticipating your smile, your voice and your touch
togetherness and completion of our first magical journey
instead of torture and unknowing
days are full of sweet daydreaming of your arrival
and our new beginning together

Mucho

This is how she began
when she first caught me
the first days were all mucho
mucho happy, mucho wonderful, mucho kisses

But as we got braver and dared even more
then things got hyper inflated
hyper love, turned to mega love
within a super sunrise and sunset

Now in these days
mucho-hyper-super mega
has grown into giga and even tetra
the heart has no bounds

but even still today, a mucho much
still brings a smile to my lips
as memory of our first lovely days.

Martuni Baby!

So we’re on the second floor of some run down admin centre
waiting for the sign and the moment to come
it’s minus 5 outside, and about plus 6 inside
the men are huddled around smoking in the window free staircase
meanwhile the bride is storming around in the office with blood spilling on her mind
some bureaucratic jackass has got their name on the bride’s line
it’s late Friday afternoon and the snow is coming in off Sevan
she is isn’t going to listen to any bureaucratic reason
when I entered the scene of the crime
the clerk behind the desk has going over the files for the umpteenth time
Canada – Canada, Canada- Canada, Canada; Canadian?
over and over, the bride was clenching her teeth
we sat around in stupor and anticipation…
some quick calls, the assistants take their places, typewriters whirl
ledgers are checked and suddenly there is laughter
the van driver steps in as a witness
suddenly bureaucracy turns civil
the bride takes my hand and in a civil flash
we are married and there is Martunian applause and congrats
though the clerk wasn’t too happy with his ‘fee”
we left man & wife, and finally Martuni free…

In Sargis on a cold February Day

They tell me there was music
They tell me they couldn’t see
They tell me it was crowded
They tell me it was too cold

I could have sworn there was no one around
Just you the priest and I
There was just his voice
And your beautiful smile
And your big brown eyes
And magic, plenty of magic around us

Crosses crossed us
Diamonds and gold blessed
Crowned and adorned
You became my Queen
That is all I really know.

They tell me there was music
They tell me they couldn’t see
They tell me it was crowded
They tell me it was too cold

I was too in love to know….
