Paper Planes

 maybe the ink split

on this paper here

will give it a bit

of weight

there’s a few words

tenderly written

and a few tear stains

that smear some

meagre sentences

well these letters are not

important today

– or tomorrow –

so I’ll fold them up

into paper planes

to see how they fly

how far they carry

up they go

gliding around

swirling gently like

a pretty lady’s dress

seem so fragile and graceful

their short flight

is halted – nose dive

crash landing

seems these planes don’t carry far

just like your scattered words

which fail to fly

and merely crash to the floor
